Steffan Harries (formerly Steffan Town Planning) was founded in 2008 by Alexander Steffan, who serves as the founding Director. Starting with projects in the Logan City Council region, Alexander gradually grew the client base of the company to one of Queensland’s most trusted town planning firms.
Each project brought new referrals, leading to more inquiries and establishing Steffan Harries as the most reputable name in town planning and development consulting in Brisbane.
In 2021, Mike Harries became an integral part of the planning team and came on as an equity partner and Director of the business which eventually led to the rebranding of the business in 2023 as ‘Steffan Harries’.
Today, with a dedicated team of six professionals, Steffan Harries can address any planning matters across the entirety of Queensland. The company remains committed to delivering high-quality personalised service, resulting in over 3500 successful approvals for our valued clients.

In our Stones Corner office, we have 40+ years of experience dealing with all Council’s within South-East Queensland and the wider Queensland region including: Brisbane City Council; Logan City Council; Moreton Bay Regional Council; Redland Bay Council; Ipswich City Council, Somerset Regional Council, Toowoomba Council, Lockyer Valley Council, and the Scenic Rim City Council (formally Beaudesert).

About our Directors
Steffan Harries presently is operated by two managing Directors: Alexander Steffan, and Mike Harries. With a combined planning experience close to 40 years, between them, there is no planning situation that they have not encountered.
Alexander Steffan
Bachelor of Urban and Environmental Planning
Always taking on new challenges to gain approval for developments for our clients. Whether that be a small carport extension, a commercial/industrial development or large subdivision. I’m also working on innovative solutions for urban planning with data-driven automation and GIS mapping systems. Born in Brisbane, Australia, I graduated from Griffith University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Urban and Environmental Planning. Upon graduating, I surprised my peers by starting my own private consulting town planning business. With a drive to succeed, Steffan Town Planning (STP) has since become one of the go-to town planning consultancies in Queensland and is now in its 15th year of operation. Through that time, I have taken part in over 2500 approvals and am an advocate for achieving good planning outcomes for both my clients and the community. I also developed the world’s first interactive town planning application, PropertEASE; I provide ongoing education and training to the town planning community via the Urban and Regional Planning Education Centre (URPEC); and am working on revolutionary strategic planning tools that use interactive maps and data to best plan urban environments.
